Vehicle Licence Bureau

Reason for Window Film

Located in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, the Vehicle Licence Bureau provides a number of Driver Licence Checking services to customers using services provided by the DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licencing Agency) and is seen as the market leader in driver and fleet management.

At the initial consultation, the client wanted to prevent highly-valuable IT equipment and personal data information from being viewed by those outside the building, while staff worked inside during the day. The client also mentioned that they didn’t want to use blinds, as they created a feeling of confinement in the office environment.

Prism Solution

Prism carried out a site survey and provided samples of the Silver 20 mirror-reflective solar control film, which allows inside-to-outside one-way viewing during office working hours. The film was installed to the rear elevation of the building.

The updated window film was used throughout the office areas, to prevent computer equipment and sensitive data on screens from being seen and to alleviate privacy and confidentiality concerns.

The addition of anti-glare window film also provided heat-reduction, enabling staff to work more productively in a temperature-stable environment.

Project Outcome

The use of one-way reflective film now means that suspicious activity outside the building could be monitored, adding an extra level of security, that is required for government offices and public service organisations.

Now, the client has no concerns over sensitive customer data being compromised, while also providing a healthier office environment for staff to work in and showing leadership in climate governance and responsibility.

Solar control window film has an added benefit of reducing the amount of UV coming through the glass, by up to 99%, which also significantly reduces the fading of fabrics and furniture including carpets, while reducing the risk of skin-burn to those who are sensitive to the rays of the sun.
